    What’s my secret?

What’s my secret? I often get asked this, I’m not showing off, I’m writing this because it’s not a secret, it’s something I want you to all have. I’m not in any way special, I’m not incredibly clever or extraordinarily brave, or have super strength. I’m pretty ordinary really, but I just chose to look. I look for happiness, for adventure, for excitement. I look for love, for friendship, for smiles. I don’t have it as hard as some of you, but life isn’t all rosy over here. I have my shit to deal, some of it pretty immense actually. But I choose to look. So many people go through…

    Why you need a hug

I wanted to name this post – Why your wife needs a hug right now, but realsied that my readers are probably mostly female, so that would be pretty wasted. But maybe you could just send this to your other half and get the message across that way, or share it on Facebook or Twitter and tag them in it, that will really do the job! ————————————— So, what’s the big deal? Everyone gets stressed in December. Too much to do, too little time. But, men of the world, before you moan about how stressful it is to choose your wife the perfect present, how annoyed you are at being…

    Pressing pause

Life is busy isn’t it? Work, home, dance lessons, dinner, homework. Work, homework, cubs, dinner. Repeat. You flop into bed at the end of the day exhausted and I don’t know about you but feeling like a sheepdog. All you have done all day is run around organising other people. Does that sound familiar? You’ve ‘seen’ your children and your partner but have you actually connected with them? The weekend come and you hop for some special family time but the food shopping needs doing, you have to get 2 kids to 2 different birthday parties at opposite sides of town at the same time and all of Sunday is…

What is stopping you from being truly happy?

If you were to ask most people this question you would get these kind of answers; work kids money stress responsibilities health weight Which one of those would you give if I was sitting having a cuppa with you right now? I wonder if anyone would answer with this though myself And that is the only one which is true. Yes, all of those other things affect our happiness, but only if we let them. If we let them. We have the power to control how we react to stress and unhappiness. So we have the power to make sure that the above things to not lead to the destruction…

    The path to true happiness

I’ll tell you right now, that path is a bumpy one. There are many pot holes in the road, hazards that get in your way, bad weather that will hamper your journey. Do you give up and go home? Some do. But here’s what most people do. They think, “Oh goodness, this looks scary, I think I’ll just wait here a while and hope it gets better in the morning.” They hope someone will come along and move the obstacle, or mend the pot holes so they can have a smoother ride. Trouble is, the next morning it is often worse, instead of the sunny skies they were hoping for…

    Quit complaining

I was at my company conference last week, 2 days of inspirational talks along with shopping, eating and having fun. There were many take away moments from those 2 days and I have a notebook full of scribbles to prove it, but one of the main things that hit me was this, We only complain about the things we can change.  Think about it, your daily gripes are all centered around the frustration that something could be done to alleviate an issue but no one has. Tell me what you have complained about in the last week, I’ll share some of mine too my husband snoring my daughter not tidying…

    Mindset is everything

Over Easter we watched the Masters golf tournament, eagerly following the return of Tiger Woods. This isn’t a golf post, so keep reading even if you weren’t. This was his first Masters in 3 years, since everything went wrong for him. He could have come into the tournament full of enthusiasm and glad to be back. Full of smiles and enjoying his passion. But he didn’t. His body language was screaming I don’t want to be here. I am uncomfortable. I feel the pressure. And what happened? He bombed. His game was off, he made loads of mistakes. His body language got worse, shoulders hunched as he walked the fairway.…

    Do you FLOW?

Do you get to the end of the week and think, how stressful it was, how you didn’t have any time for yourself? You look at your jobs lists and things have been crossed off, but apart from a small amount of satisfaction of that, you are left with a bit of an empty feeling that the week wasn’t much fun? This is how I felt, I love writing lists, I have lists of lists! Maybe you are like me and you write things on a list that you have already done, just so you can cross it off? But life shouldn’t be that boring. Life should be for living…

    Progress

Progress, no matter how small, is a step in the right direction. Continuing our series on how to lead a happier, more stress free life, today I bring you my small victories that show that by making a few simple changes your life can be a lot easier. We’ve looked at recognising your personality traits in this blog here and the power you get from understanding your mind and how it works. We’ve looked at letting go of the pressures of society in this blog here, and how walking away and saying no can be easier than you think. This week I also started to read the Chimp Paradox and…

    Too many foxes

Hope you read the brilliant blog my friend Sarah wrote for me about living the zero fox given lifestyle? If not, it’s here. This is my side of the story. I’d love to be where Sarah is and living her life in a more carefree way, but I just can’t make it happen. I was beating myself up about it, but then I did this personality test online and found that maybe it’s not all my fault. The whole points of these tests is that you learn what your weaknesses are and work on them. So this is me working on my over analysing. I think about everything. Every. Little.…
