Merry Christmas from all of us

This year has been one of big change for our little family and with that in mind I decided to change things up a bit. Instead of the traditional newsletter I print out and add to the Christmas cards I have gone digital! So here is our news and below a link to the You Tube channel to see our antics in photos. This time last year I was hatching a plan to leave the classroom and have a sustainable business I could work from home. I’m sat at my computer on a Monday morning writing this, as I did just that and now have the time freedom to work…

    Pressing pause

Life is busy isn’t it? Work, home, dance lessons, dinner, homework. Work, homework, cubs, dinner. Repeat. You flop into bed at the end of the day exhausted and I don’t know about you but feeling like a sheepdog. All you have done all day is run around organising other people. Does that sound familiar? You’ve ‘seen’ your children and your partner but have you actually connected with them? The weekend come and you hop for some special family time but the food shopping needs doing, you have to get 2 kids to 2 different birthday parties at opposite sides of town at the same time and all of Sunday is…

Pumpkin soup that actually tastes good

You got the pumpkins for Halloween, you had a great time at the farm picking them, they made a lovely decoration but what now? They are too big to keep in the fridge, and not many people like eating them as a vegetable! We tried putting one out for the birds and the squirrels, but they weren’t too keen and it just went mouldy, so plan B, back to the kitchen I went. I’ve tried making pumpkin soup before but soups are not my forte. I can’t seem to get the balance right and pumpkin soup just came out stodgy and gloopy. This year though I was determined to crack…

    IBS – my fairy tale

A pre warning, yes I’m going to talk about poo. Why? Because it’s important. Some of you might see it as over sharing, but to be honest, the more we talk about it the more people will find help for something that really affects their lives. Once upon a time there was a little girl with beautiful shiny brown hair in a questionable bowl cut. This is my story. I don’t remember it starting. But my mum does. I was a toddler and learning to use the potty. Apparently I would struggle to go and then golf ball sized poos would appear with a lot of pain and discomfort. I…

  • Loving what is in the mirror

    A confession!

Eeek, I feel really bad admitting this. I feel like I have been leading a double life, but that is the reason to come clean (pun intended). One of my most sacred values is being real, even on social media. Just search my hashtags #RealFacebook #RealLife So here it goes. I don’t wash my face at night! Shock, horror! The girl that sells skin care doesn’t look after her skin! Ok, it’s not that big a deal, not in grand scheme of things. But it does matter to me because I like to like what I see in the mirror. I got started on this whole network marketing thing because…

    Embrace the quinoa!

Quinoa, that word that is ridiculously tricky to pronounce, yet the stuff is everywhere. In salads, in dinners, even in snack bars! Why? Because is it really good for you! Really! It is a great source of protein, and as it is a plant you can cut down on the animal protein a bit which is always good for your health. It is contain all 9 of the essential amino acids your body needs. You body cannot make amino acids, it needs to get them from food. Quinoa is a complete food in this sense. It is not a grain, but a seed, so behaves like a grain or a…

What is stopping you from being truly happy?

If you were to ask most people this question you would get these kind of answers; work kids money stress responsibilities health weight Which one of those would you give if I was sitting having a cuppa with you right now? I wonder if anyone would answer with this though myself And that is the only one which is true. Yes, all of those other things affect our happiness, but only if we let them. If we let them. We have the power to control how we react to stress and unhappiness. So we have the power to make sure that the above things to not lead to the destruction…

    The path to true happiness

I’ll tell you right now, that path is a bumpy one. There are many pot holes in the road, hazards that get in your way, bad weather that will hamper your journey. Do you give up and go home? Some do. But here’s what most people do. They think, “Oh goodness, this looks scary, I think I’ll just wait here a while and hope it gets better in the morning.” They hope someone will come along and move the obstacle, or mend the pot holes so they can have a smoother ride. Trouble is, the next morning it is often worse, instead of the sunny skies they were hoping for…

    Quit complaining

I was at my company conference last week, 2 days of inspirational talks along with shopping, eating and having fun. There were many take away moments from those 2 days and I have a notebook full of scribbles to prove it, but one of the main things that hit me was this, We only complain about the things we can change.  Think about it, your daily gripes are all centered around the frustration that something could be done to alleviate an issue but no one has. Tell me what you have complained about in the last week, I’ll share some of mine too my husband snoring my daughter not tidying…

    Aunty Sue’s special sauce!

I feel a bit mean writing this, as this is limited edition special sauce. Only available a few people.  But maybe you could find your own Aunty Sue. Or your own special sauce. So I’ll share it anyway! I use this sauce in sooooo many different ways, as a dressing on a salad, over pork chops, for marinating salmon, as a dip with cream cheese, in stir fries, I could go on and on. But today’s recipe is one of my famous (I like to think so anyway), ‘chuck it in a pan and see what happens’ recipes. The started off life as a very boring meat, mash and two…
