Yes, if it has an impact on your mental health and emotional well being it is a big deal.
So why do so many of us give up and just accept that greasy skin, spots, dark circles, dry patches are a part of life and are here to stay?
I was lucky as a teenager and had pretty good skin, a whopper of a spot once a year but apart from that I was very lucky. But then when I hit my mid 30’s mother nature made up for that big time!
All of a sudden, I had a greasy, spotty face. I had dark circles under my eyes that were nothing to do with lack of sleep. My skin was dull, and I had wrinkles. I looked in the mirror and it made me feel sad.
At 35!! That didn’t seem fair!
I soldiered on for a while, thinking ‘oh well, this is just how things are now, no point in doing anything about it.’ And tried to accept it.
I thought it was vain to spend money on skincare when I could spend it on the kids. I should be putting that money towards a family holiday, not ‘wasting it’ on lotions and potions.
Then I realised that it was having a significant effect on my well being and that was silly. Not silly that I felt that way, but silly that I wasn’t doing something about it.
Wanting to look in the mirror and be happy is not vain.
So, I sourced a solution. I started with a product to clear up the greasy skin. Then I got an eye cream that has helped the dark circles. And I now have a cleanser, serum and moisturiser that keeps my skin bright and glowing.
It’s not bringing world peace, it’s not finding a cure for cancer.
But it is helping my happiness.
And that is alright.
If your skin is causing you unhappiness, whether it be spots, dark circles, wrinkles, scars, there is a solution and it isn’t vain to want it sorted.
