These are so stinking cute they are almost too good to eat, almost!
And add into that, that mine almost look as good as the original picture and they tasted amazing, could they be just the perfect dinner? I held back judgement until today, because I wanted to see if they passed the freezer test.
One of the best things about Shepherds pie (or strictly cottage pie as I use beef mince) is that the left overs are perfect for freezing so I always make a big one and freeze half in portion containers. But would these little cuties freeze and defrost well?
Yes!!!
The pastry held it’s shape, wasn’t at all soggy even when heated up in the microwave and if anything they were even tastier as the meat had flavoured really well in the cooling process.
Winner, winner chicken dinner, oops, Winner, winner pot pie dinner!

For once I pretty much kept to the recipe! I would suggest using fairy cake tins instead of muffin tins though as I struggled to get them out of the deep muffin trays! I had to wait until they were cool and tip them out! Where as the ones in the fairy cake tins could be levered out with a spatula whilst still hot.
If you make them please share a photo!!
