Is your health your priority?

If it isn’t what is?

Mine is, because I know if I get that right then everything else will fall into place.

If I eat properly then I feel better about myself, my wellbeing is better, I feel happier, calmer, less stressed, more focused.

If I look after my body I like what I see in the mirror. I feel good in my clothes, I feel confident in what I am doing in all areas of my life.

If I look after my body I can train harder, run further, execute synchro moves better.

If I focus on feeding my body with proper food that nourishes it as well as filling it up then it will ward off illnesses and heal better. It also recovers better after over indulging.

But just because I put my health at the top of my priority list it doesn’t mean it takes over my life. A couple of times a year I go all out and take 30 days out to give my body a chance to have a break and heal. Like going to a spa retreat, I give it the top notch treatments and treat it to a rest. But the rest of the year I work on a 80/20 split. 80% of my food is nourishment, good clean food that provides my body with what it needs to be working at it’s best. 20% of it isn’t good for my body’s health, but it is good in other ways. Having a glass of wine after a long day, taking the kids for doughnuts, going out drinking with my friends.

And because the rest of the time my health is my priority, my body can cope with that 20%. I have been at my goal weight for 9 months solid. In that time I have celebrated mine and 3 besties’ 40th birthdays, I have been on holiday, I have had many nights out and nights in with friends. I have put my 20% to good use!!!!

But ultimately, my health is always my priority.
