Sophie’s 13th birthday!!!!!
It wasn’t the birthday we had planned, we were meant to be at Haven with our friends for the weekend, so we went all out to make sure Sophie had a great day.
We decorated the house as a surprise which meant she we started the day with a lovely smile. Luckily I had managed to get to Bluewater just before we went into lockdown so there lots of presents for her to open.
We embraced the new technology and hosted 2 virtual parties which was so much fun actually.
A family one to start with, Gail, Richard, Natasha and James in Leicester, Mum and Dad in Vigo, and Ben, Vicki, William and Dexter in West Malling. Sophie also opened her presents from them at that time, making the best of the situation. We did scavenger hunts, Colour Brain and Give me 5.
After some lunch I opened a bottle of prosecco in time for the Llevans’ party. I always treat myself on the girls’ birthdays, I had them both by c-section, so didn’t get to eat or drink all day. I make up for that on their birthdays!!
The Llevans’ party was crazy fun! Scavenger hunts, Colour Brain, What am I? and Scattegories. The technology worked a treat and we all had a brilliant time.
And we had snow!!! Well, more giant hailstones for the majority of the time, but there was definitely snow there at several points in the day. Sophie’s birthday is always a complete lottery when it comes to the weather, we have had days like today, really cold and then also warm enough to have a party outside.
For the past 6 years, Sophie has asked to go to Pizza Express for her birthday dinner, and obviously this couldn’t happen but Gavin had outdone himself and managed to get some Pizza Express pizzas from Morrisons in the week! Daddy to the rescue!
That rounded the day off wonderfully. We are so grateful to all the people who took the time to make the effort to make her birthday so special.
